Karawan Riad is more than a boutique hotel. It is the meeting of both the restoration of a historic building and the inspiration of the “caravanserais”, in which one could find refined objects, fabulous foodstuffs and romantic stories between Morocco, the Middle East, sub-Saharan Africa and Europe.

Karawan Riad exists thanks to the involvement of many people around the owners.

The craftsmen

Stéphanie LANSKIN, creator of atmospheres. This young French designer, very attached to Moroccan craftsmanship but also to beautiful materials and beautiful fabrics, is guided by her need to create. A free spirit, she was inspired by a place full of history with the aim of recreating a warm space combining contemporary style and Moroccan atmosphere. The century-old walls rub shoulders with modern furniture and antique artifacts.

Driss CHEICK, our master carpenter. As a team leader he was responsible for the wooden structures, custom orders for atypical spaces, but also all the furniture that we specially designed. He mastered the entire finishing process to the highest possible quality level.

The photographers & filmmakers

Youssef Ait BOUSKRI, photographer, architect and designer, who highlighted the restoration and decoration work of the riad and who accompanied certain clients in photo workshops in the heart of the medina.

Omar DZIRI, photographer and visual artist, who brought his artistic eye not only to the riad but also to its immediate surroundings and the individuals who bring life to the largest medina in the world, the medina where his paternal grandfather is buried.

Lou-Ann, photographer & Britta, filmmaker, who passionately shared their discovery of the riad and the medina.

Jean-Michel GUEUGNOT, photographer, who carried out the 360° tour of the riad, in order to discover each of the rooms without entering them.

Nicolas & Emma SALET, directors and travelers, who discovered a riad whose work was not yet finished and whose photos give an impression of completion that warms the heart!

Maxime LIAUTAUD et Cloé HUET, two young graduates of audiovisual studies, who made “Karawan Riad, Home of travelers” a very beautiful film on Fez and the riad which can be found on this site.
